Showcase: Student Created Website OffClassroom.com

offclassroom is a website created by three final year BE students (in IT and CP branches) at the A.D. Patel Institute of Technology, New Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat.

Basically, OffClassroom is a website where students can write article, share them, get appreciated and get them reviewed. Although articles can really be on any topics, most of the popular articles tend to be about student-oriented technology topics, like How to fall in love with Linux and A snake game using Java Applet.

The site has been developed using Joomla, and is very well designed - far better than most student websites I've seen. In addition, they seem to be managing the site very professionally. Just check out their team page.

Why are they doing this?

Classrooms provide knowledge on a specific subject in limited time. So it is not possible to have each and evey doubt or confusion to get solved. Many of us are eager to share the new things and researches going on in the IT field and further to share basic fundas a computer engineer must know which can be enhanced by group activities. Improvement of soft-skills comes as a by-product because of group activities like group discussion, giving presentations, writing technical and non-technical articles
